Texas Space Grant Consortium Scholarship and Fellowship |

TSGC Columbia Crew Memorial Scholarship Program
These scholarships are intended to recognize high-quality students and
encourage their consideration of graduate studies in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics fields which will ultimately
lead to careers in space related fields. The scholarships stress:
Excellence in academics
Participation in space education projects
Participation in research projects
Exhibited leadership qualities
TSGC encourages participation by members of under-represented groups.
The application deadline for the Columbia Crew Memorial Scholarship is
March 21, 2008.
TSGC Fellowship Program
Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis with consideration of (1)
excellence in academics, (2) interest in space, and (3) recommendations
from the applicant's institution. The application deadline for TSGC
Fellowship is April 11, 2008.

NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program |

The NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program is now being administered by
the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). It is expected
that approximately 20 two-year undergraduate, and 5 three-year graduate
scholarships will be awarded annually to students pursuing aeronautical
engineering and related fields. Total allocated award amounts are up to
$40,000 for undergraduates and up to $125,000 for graduates. These
funds will go towards tuition and related costs, as well as to provide
paid summer internship opportunities at NASA research center.
Competitive applicants interested in this amazing opportunity should
begin completing application materials immediately. A completed
application will consist of profile information, academic background
(including transcripts), a resume, an essay for undergraduates, a
proposal for graduates, letters of recommendations, and any test scores,
such as SAT’s and GRE’s, when appropriate.
Completed applications will be collected electronically from February

Opportunity for Study Abroad |

Two scholarhip opportunities for American students to study in Taiwan. The first is for a one-year non-degree Chinese language (Huayu) learning program, Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program. The second is called the Taiwan Scholarship Program, which is to encourage promising students from the United States to pursue their degree studies in Taiwan.
Both scholarships offer a stipend of about $790 per month. The duration of the first scholarship is from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009. The duration for the second scholarship is up to four years for undergraduates, two years for master's level students, and three years for doctoral students. Students from Texas who have good academic records and great motives to study in Taiwan are welcome to apply. Applications can be submitted from February 1 through April 10, 2008 and early applications, along with appropriate letters of recomendation, will recieve the highest priority. All applicants should apply directly to universities/colleges in Taiwan for admission before applying for either scholarship. For more information, please see Pam Ford in the Office of the Dean.

Scholarships from the National Society of Professional Engineers |

The National Society of Professional Engineers is currently accepting applications for several scholarships, available to engineering under grads and graduate students.
Undergraduate
NSPE Auxiliaries Legacy Scholarship (Female - March 1, 2008)
Awarded to a female student enrolled in an ABET/EAC accredited engineering program who is a rising junior or senior. Amount varies ($2000 and up).
Professional Engineers in Industry (PEI) Scholarship (March 15, 2008)
Applicants must be sponsored by a NSPE/PEI member. Students who are children, dependents, or relatives of NSPE members are given preference in the scholarship selection process. Students must have completed a minimum of two semesters or three quarters of undergraduate engineering studies (or be enrolled in graduate study) in a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). $2500 for one year.
Paul H. Robbins, P.E., Honorary Scholarship (March 1, 2008)
The Paul H. Robbins, P.E., Honorary Scholarship is awarded annually to a current engineering undergraduate student entering the junior year in an ABET-accredited engineering program and attending a college/university that participates in the NSPE Professional Engineers in Higher Education Sustaining University Program. $10,000.
William R. Kimel, PE Engineering Scholarship (March 1, 2008)
The William R. Kimel, P.E., Engineering Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student who is a resident of either Kansas or Missouri, enrolled as a junior in an ABET-accredited engineering program in a college or university in either Kansas or Missouri. Applicant must be: A permanent resident of Kansas or Missouri, an undergraduate in the junior year enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program at a college or university in either Kansas or Missouri. $2,500.
The Albert H. Miller, P.E., F.NSPE, Memorial Scholarship (March 1, 2008)
Applicants for the Albert H. Miller Memorial Scholarship must be undergraduates entering the junior year at the University of Arkansas with a declared major of either civil or environmental engineering. $2,500.
Graduate
The Steinman Fellowship (March 1, 2008) will be awarded to graduate from an ABET-accredited engineering program entering a graduate program in engineering: $10,000.
NSPE/PEC George B. Hightower, P.E. Fellowship (March 1, 2008)
NSPE/PEC and the NSPE Educational Foundation have established the George B. Hightower, P.E., Memorial Fellowship Fund to annually honor an outstanding engineering graduate student. $3000 for one year.
Professional Engineers in Government (PEG) John Gregoritis, PE Management Study Fellowship (March 15, 2008)
This is a scholarship for graduate students who are pursuing an MBA, a master's degree in engineering management, or a master's degree in public administration. It is available to any Engineer Intern or licensed Professional Engineer from any discipline. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens may apply if they are current NSPE members. $2500 for one year.

Texas Engineering Scholarship
Program |

Merit-based scholarships are
available from the State of Texas for freshmen studying
engineering. These scholarships were provided for
through House Bill 2978 and passed by the 80th
legislature. To be eligible for the scholarship the
student must:
• Have been in the top 20% of their high school
graduating class;
• Have had a 3.5/4.0 GPR on all high school math and
science courses;
• Enroll in an undergraduate engineering program; and
• Maintain a 3.0/4.0 GPR at the university in they
enroll.
Scholarships awarded in a given academic year do not
represent an entitlement for future awards. Recipients
of a scholarship in one year may compete for
scholarships in subsequent years.

The University of Texas at
Tyler offers many scholarships designed to attract and
retain outstanding degree seeking students. To be
considered, students must be accepted for admission and
submit an on-line scholarship application for the
appropriate scholarship and semester. Please select the

applications.
It is recommended that all scholarship applicants
complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Awarding of academic scholarships is based primarily on
predictors of academic success, such as high school
class rank, standardized test scores and prior grades.
Additional consideration will be given to leadership
qualities socioeconomic background and status as a first
generation college student.
