UT Tyler Student Researchers Participate at UT-LSAMP Conference

Students from The University of Texas at Tyler recently presented research during the 2008 UT System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Undergraduate Research Conference held at UT El Paso, Dr. Steve Rainwater, interim chair and Chandler professor of computer science, announced.

Deadline for Texas Engineering Scholarship Program Announced

Merit-based scholarships are available from the State of Texas (December 1, 2008) for freshmen and sophomores studying engineering. These scholarships were provided for through House Bill 2978 and passed by the 80th legislature. To be eligible for the scholarship the student must:

• Have been in the top 20% of their high school graduating class;
• Have had a 3.5/4.0 GPR on all high school math and science courses;
• Enroll in an undergraduate engineering program; and
• Maintain a 3.0/4.0 GPR at the university in they enroll.

Scholarships awarded in a given academic year do not represent an entitlement for future awards. Recipients of a scholarship in one year may compete for scholarships in subsequent years.
